Ariel will present a VFR1200 based motorcycle an Goodwood Festival of Speed on 26-29 June 2014. This could be the comeback of a legendary name.
The new motorcycle will use a VFR 1200 engine and single-sided shaft-drive swing-arm and will be a „performance cruiser“, according to Simon Saunders, the director of Ariel.
Saunders told visordown.com that the production model would come multiple versions, each one fitted to an individual customers and will have an upright sitting position. „We’ve got three different seats, two or three different tanks, different front ends, different wheels. It will be a bit like getting a suit made“, says the director do Ariel.
The bike could also have Honda’s dual clutch transmission, which cobines automatic and semi-automatic modes and will be revealed at Goodwood Festival of Speed: 26-29 June, West Sussex.
It is not the first time the name Ariel is used on a bike tank. Ariel was one of the most famous British motorcycle brands and even though there is no connection between Ariel – the car maker and Ariel – the deceased motorcycle firm, the use of the name could mean something for the motorcycle world.
The press announcement was made after Ariel gave an Atom 3.5R to UK Police for chasing the undisciplined motorbike riders.
