Yamaha R3 2015 is a new sport motorcycle in Yamaha line-up. It has a two-cylinder engine capable of 42 hp and 169 kg.
Yamaha R3 2015 fills the gap between R125 and the middleweight supersport R6. It has a two cylinder 321 cc engine capable of 42 horsepower at 10.750 rpm. Which means Yamaha R3 is the most powerful Japanese bike in its class, ahead of Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Honda CB 300R. KTM also has a motorcycle in this class – RC390 with a 373 cc single cylinder engine capable of 43 horsepower.
As for the weight, which is very important at this type of bike, Yamaha R3 has 169 kg fueled. It’s 5 kg heavier than Honda CB 300R (31 hp – 164 kg) and 5 kg lighter than Ninja 300 (39 hp – 147 kg). Yamaha R3 has a 14 L fuel tank (Honda – 13, Kawasaki – 17).
The chassis is light and compact, offering a sporty handling, according to Yamaha. The ABS is fitted as standard, and the 17 inch wheels are stopped through a 298 mm disc – front and a 220 mm disc – back. As for the dashboard and dual headlight, it resembles the R6.
Yamaha says that R3 2015 is a everyday use bike. The 1,380 wheelbase is longer than the R6 one (1,375 mm), and the short exhaust contributes to mass centralization. The swinging arm is inspired from the R1, using the same lengths/wheelbase proportions.
