Ninja H2R is just the beginning. Kawasaki plans Ninja R2

Kawasaki Ninja H2R was a real marketing success last autumn: a fighter plane design and more than 300 horsepower from a supercharged litre engine. Really fabulous! And it would be such a shame for the things to stop right now.

There are some rumors in the market that Kawasaki plans putting the supercharged engine on several future motorcycles. Kawasaki trademarked the name Ninja R2 in Europe, Japan and U.S.A. Moreover, in Japan were also trademarked Ninja R2-R, Ninja E2, Ninja E2-R, Ninja S2 and Ninja S2-R.

On the other hand, Kawasaki said that the supercharged technology was created only for H2R but „it can be used in future projects“. This mention seems plausible. Kawasaki developed the supercharged technology in-house and the costs were quite expensive so it would be normal to use the knowledge in the future.

We can assume that in two or three years we could see a 600 cc supercharged supersport, or maybe a 300 cc one which could give the same feeling as a medium class bike. This could be pretty tempting for the emerging markets, don’t you think?
