KTM begins testing for a 390 cc adventure motorcycle in India.
It seems like KTM has sent two 390 cc adventure orientated bikes in India for testing and development according to cartrade.com. The Austrian company codenamed the project KT22 and the motorcycles are based on the 390 Duke model.
Probably the new bike will have the 373.2 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine found on the 390 Duke and RC390. Transmission should be with 6 gears, power around 42.9 hp and torque at 35 Nm. The name will most likely be the 390 Adventure but will have to wait and see what KTM has planned for this motorcycle.
The frame will be the steel orange trellis we see on the 390 Duke, but for offroad capabilities, the motorcycle will have longer-travel suspension according to the Indian car website. Other features on the 390 Adventure machine will be a screen, hand-guards, mounts for side cases and top case, a new headlamp, higher exhaust and more comfortable seat.
The new adventure bike will have a dry weight of around 136 kg, a figure the adventure bike industry have been asking for a long time. KTM is producing the Duke range at Bajaj’s Chakan plant and probably the 390 Adventure will be produced at the same factory.
