Triumph is putting the finishing touches on the new Speed Triple. As far as design goes, the new motorcycle hasn’t change much.
Looking at the spy shots of what it’s probably the 2016 Triumph Speed Triple we can see that the new bike is not very different than the current model. It still has two rectangular headlights, the frame looks the same, the exhaust is still a two peace, we can almost say that the 2016 version is pretty much a facelift.
The engine is updated in order to meet the current emissions regulations, the two peace exhaust system and catalytic converter are visibly changed. It is said that the power will remain quite the same at 140 hp which is far from what today’s supernakeds are making. KTM and Aprilia have figures at around 180 hp and BMW has 160 hp.
The changes to the 2016 Triumph Speed Triple will probably include traction control and multiple riding modes just like the british company introduce to the Tiger 800 earlier this year. The R model will have 5 riding modes compared to just 3 for the standard version.
The british supernaked will come in two versions, the Speed Triple and the Speed Triple R. The R model will have high performance Ohlins suspension rather than Showa for the standard version. The current Brembo brakes on the Speed Triple R will become standard on both 2016 versions. It’s most likely to see the new Triumph Speed Triple this fall at the EICMA show along with an all new Tiger 1200 and the new Bonneville.
