Triumph is working on several important updates for 2016. Street Triple, Bonneville, Speed Triple, Tiger Explorer. All of them will be revamped soon and we should see at least some of them this autumn in Milan.
Of course, this article is based on rumors. But we still have some spy photos and market insights „leaked“ in media. If at last year’s EICMA, Triumph’s presence was just formal, without any really new model, this year we might see some pretty good stuff.
Street Triple 2016 could have four versions and an 800 cc engine
According to UK’s MCN Magazine, Triumph is working on a whole new Street Triple family. The news was based on a survey and on some spy photos. The new Street Triple could have 800 cc, in the same three cylinder architecture, which will give 125 horsepower. The new Street Triple generation will be available in four versions: a basic one, Street Triple R, Street Triple RT (a faired sport touring model) and Street Triple RS (top version, with Ohlins suspension system and Brembo calipers).
A whole new Triumph Bonneville family
The old Bonnie is also on the new models list. The whole Bonneville family will be heavily revised. Instead of the old parallel twin we’ll have an air/liquid 1100 cc inline twin capable of about 110 horsepower. It we’ll be a direct competitor to BMW’s R nineT. According to some spy shots, the new Bonneville will be launched in at least four different versions: a classic Bonneville, a bobber, a café-racer and maybe a scrambler.
A new Tiger Explorer for 2016
The first rumors appeared in January, when a modified Tiger Explorer was spotted near Barcelona alongside BMW R 1200 GS and the old Tiger. We don’t have so many details, but it seems that the new big adventure-touring motorcycle from Triumph will have Brembo brakes and semi-active suspension system.
Speed Triple facelift
Triumph will put just a facelift onto Speed Triple’s face. Unlike the Street Triple family, it will have the same 1050 three-cylinder engine. We don’t know for sure if it will be a 2016 or a 2017 model.
